Reduce your travel self-isolation period
From December 15th you can reduce your travel self-isolation period with the UK government’s Test-to-Release programme
Covid Travel Clinic is now able to provide testing in accordance with the government Test-to-Release program.
If you are returning to the UK from a destination, not on the government’s Travel corridor list you will need to self-isolate for a 14-day period. If you want to reduce your isolation period you can now take a COVID-19 test 5 days after your arrival back in the UK. If you get a negative test result you will no longer need to isolate this is known as Test to Release.
How does Test-to-Release work?
The process for the test to release is listed below:
24 hours before the end of your trip you need to check if the country you are returning from is on the government travel corridor list. This list changes on a regular basis without notice. If your destination is not on the list, you will need to book your Test to Release appointment.
Day one: Once you arrive in England from a quarantine country. You need to go straight to the place you are going to self-isolate. This will be the start of the self-isolating period according to the UK governments instruction.
See below example:
“You leave a country not on the travel corridor list on Monday morning and arrive in England on Monday afternoon. Tuesday will be your first full day of self-isolation. You can take a test no earlier than your 5th full day of self-isolation - Saturday. You must continue to self-isolate while you await your test result”
Day 6 to 7: You will get your results. If negative you are to end self-isolation. If the results are positive Covid Travel Clinic will advise you what to do next.
